Law Enforcement Focusing on Prescription Drugs

November 5, 2009
Reported by Associated Press

Prescription drug trafficking is becoming more prevalent and the Wyoming Department of Corrections is trying to crack down.
The department is hosting a seminar for law enforcement officers in Laramie today.
Employees at a pharmaceutical company will train officers on topics like drug identification and lawful prescribing.
The State Department of Health reported this summer that Wyoming deaths linked to prescription drug abuse more than doubled from 2005 to 2008 and were much more common than deaths caused by cocaine or heroin use.
Today's conference will have officers from six Wyoming counties.
