Wyoming's Job Injury Rate Holds Steady

Wyoming's on the job injury and illness rate is holding steady despite concentrated efforts to improve.
The Wyoming Department of Employment's research and planning division says the state's estimated incidence rate of nonfatal injuries and illness was 4.6 percent for full time private employees in 2008.
The rate was the same in 2007.
During those years, Wyoming had the highest workplace fatality rate in the nation.
State leaders formed a task force earlier this year to address the problem.
They also continue to study a workers' compensation program that receives criticism for the way it addresses serious and long-term injuries and illnesses.
